Treatment focus

Our highly experienced and empathetic dental hygienists are happy to look after the health of your teeth and help you keep them as long as possible. You are also in the best hands with our team when it comes to gingivitis and its treatment. It is advisable to have dental hygiene performed once or twice a year, or more frequently in special cases, depending on your treatment needs.

To give your teeth a natural and harmonious appearance, there are various options available today. The gentlest method of tooth whitening is bleaching using a tray and bleaching gel. Veneers (wafer-thin ceramic veneers) are used for severe tooth discolouration or misalignment. However, aesthetic dentistry does not only concern the front teeth. For example, in the case of small defects in the molar, the most modern tooth-coloured filling materials (so-called composites) are used. For larger defects, all-ceramic inlays, onlays or crowns are the right choice. We will be happy to advise you.

The future of dentistry has already begun. The digital construction of ceramic inlays with CEREC was developed at the University of Zurich in the early 1980s as a replacement for large amalgam fillings. Many years later, CEREC can be used to create ceramic inlays, onlays and crowns that meet the highest quality standards. In addition, ceramic restorations allow minimally invasive preparation for the tooth, which means significantly less tooth structure loss than with conventional gold restorations. The CEREC technique is further perfected by the use of ultrasonic instruments, which also ensure controlled and gentle substance removal. In most cases, CEREC restorations can be fabricated and placed directly at the treatment chair and in just one session, without the need for a conventional impression.

In the case of irreversible inflammation of the tooth, only root canal treatment can be considered as a tooth-preserving measure. In order to increase the quality and the chances of success of this treatment, we work in our practice according to the latest scientific findings with machine root canal preparation systems, highly flexible nickel-titanium files, ultrasound and surgical microscope (Zeiss™Pro Ergo). The three-dimensional filling of the root canals with a heated filling material and subsequent compaction increases the quality of the treatment even further, so that your tooth will be preserved for a long time. In order to preserve the tooth in the long term and protect it from fractures, it is usually restored with a partial crown or crown immediately after the treatment.

The removal of wisdom teeth and inflammatory processes at the root of the tooth (apicoectomy) were previously performed with rotating instruments. Common after-effects were pain and swelling in the surgical area. The new technique of ultrasound surgery allows a minimally invasive approach to the operation, making pain and swelling a thing of the past.

This approach is made possible by working with the Piezotom™, whose ultrasound vibrations are specifically tuned to the bone. This allows bone to be worked on extremely precisely and gently without damaging surrounding soft or nerve tissue. Furthermore, this technique even promotes wound healing. Ultrasound surgery is not only used in general dental surgery, but also in implantology, e.g. for boil reconstruction of the maxillary sinus.

If a tooth is lost, an implant may be the right choice. With this therapy method, a titanium screw is inserted into the jawbone and, after an average waiting period of 3-6 months, is fitted with a crown that closes the gap. Implants are not only used to replace a tooth, but also to anchor bridges or a removable denture.

In the context of restoring the lateral upper jaw with implants, bone augmentation of the maxillary sinus may be necessary if there is too little bone. There are various procedures available for this bone augmentation, some of which can have stressful after-effects for the patient. In order to avoid these after-effects, we use the Intralift™ procedure, with the help of which bone augmentation can be carried out using ultrasound in a way that is gentle on the patient and the tissue. Pain and swelling can thus be virtually eliminated.

Do you notice grinding or clenching at night? Are your teeth getting shorter? Do your chewing muscles feel exhausted in the morning? Or do you have pain in the area of the temporomandibular joint that extends into your ears? Then it could be that you suffer from a so-called cranio-mandibular dysfunction (CMD) or myoarthropathy (MAP), in which the interaction between teeth, jaw joint and musculature is out of balance. Through sound diagnosis and many years of experience in therapy, we can help you alleviate your symptoms and protect your teeth and jaw joints from damage. Using the latest digital diagnostic equipment such as the Tekscan®, we can show you on the computer how you bite together. This gives us the first clues to possible problems.
